The "Los Angeles Adventure" 7th Grade Trip

 

The Institute for Modern Judaism proudly presents: 

 

 

The first-ever Bay Area-wide 7th grade

Los Angeles Adventure

Education - Judaism - Social Fun

 

 When:    Departure: Thursday, March 31 @ 5:00 pm (Tiburon), 6:00 pm (Oakland)

               Return: Sunday, April 3 @ ~8:30 pm (Oakland), ~9:00 pm (Tiburon)

Who:      All Jewish 7th-grade students in the Bay Area

 

Where:   Los Angeles' historically Jewish neighborhoods and attractions

 

What:     The Museum of Tolerance (Holocaust Museum), American Jewish University, L.A.-flavored Shabbat services, Beit Teshuvah (Jewish-run substance abuse treatment center), the Santa Monica Pier (amusement park), and the one and only Kosher Subway sandwich shop

 

Why:       To develop their understanding of American Judaism, explore the Jewish side of L.A., and hang out with 7th graders from across the Bay Area

 

 

Transportation: All-inclusive, by van, departing from both Oakland and Tiburon

 

Supervision: The trip will be organized and run by Noah Zaves, director of the Institute for Modern Judaism, 7th grade teacher at B'nai Shalom in Walnut Creek, and BBYO advisor. All of the chaperones have current First Aid and CPR certifications, and extensive experience working with 7th grade students. A medic will travel with the group at all times.

 

Cost: $270 per student (substantial scholarships available based on need)

          -Includes all food, transportation, lodging, and activities for the entire trip

 

Scholarships: All applications will be kept strictly confidential. Contact Maia Wolins, secretary of the IMJ board, at board-secretary@modernjudaism.org to request aid.

Sign-Up Deadline: Please register for the trip by Jan. 25. After this time, the cost of registration will increase to $418, and scholarships will no longer be available.
